2025

The Journal of Information Systems (JIS) is the academic journal of the Accounting Information Systems (AIS) Section of the American Accounting Association. Its goal is to support, promote and advance knowledge of accounting information systems. The primary criterion for publication in JIS is contribution to the accounting information systems, accounting and auditing domains by the application or understanding of information technology theory and practice.

The JIS proudly announces its 4th International Conference, which is designed to encourage accounting information system researchers from around the world to submit their academic papers reporting innovative research and insights to JIS to receive the spotlight they deserve. We particularly encourage submissions from regions beyond the US. This conference aims to create a conceptual connection that transcends the geographical and intellectual boundaries of participants and redefines what is possible in AIS research.

Important Dates

  • Submission: until January 15, 2025 (11:59 EST Time (early submission is encouraged)
  • Notification: March 15, 2025
  • Main Conference: May 30 and 31, 2025

Submission Guidelines

Papers must be original and not simultaneously submitted to another conference. All submissions should adhere to the JIS formatting and style guidelines. Abstracts must clearly state the research's purpose, methodology, results, and implications. Full papers should be submitted by January 15th, 2025, via the JIS submission system.

Conference Scope

We encourage submissions that explore adopting and adapting emerging technologies in accounting, auditing and accountability, focusing particularly on how these innovations can enhance transparency, efficiency, and reliability in accounting processes. The goal is to examine both the opportunities and challenges arising from the digitalization in this sector.

While our spotlight is AIS, we are also eager to embrace submissions related to digital technology and society. Digital transformation across the US, European countries, Southeast Asia and Africa offers various insights relevant to accounting, economics, and finance, particularly in digitization and digital transformation. Thus, we also seek papers that examine these developments and their impact on societal and community advancement in the increasingly digital world.

Please note that in order to be considered for fast-track in the JIS, there must be a clear match of the paper’s topic with the journal’s theme, vision, and mission.

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

  1. Integration of AI and Machine Learning in AIS
  2. Blockchain Revolution in Accounting, Auditing and Accountability
  3. Robotic Process Automation (RPA) in Accounting, Auditing and Accountability
